The poet's skill and resourcefulness exhibited in his or her creativity are recognized to have a central place when it comes to understanding poetry through its technical qualities. It is the quality of poetic skill through which a poet presents his work of art aesthetically by introducing beautiful, effective, and intelligible language and words. In this research paper, I study the poetic skill in the poetry of Sindh’s prominent modern poet Shaikh Ayaz (d.1997). By the term poetic skills, I draw attention to creative skills or resourcefulness contained in the poetry in the form of words. The poetic skills in the form of words in the work of a poet can be likened to a sculptor’s use of chisels. The words in poetry work in the pattern of a decorative style in artworks. This paper will discuss that the poetic devices that make poetry charming are found in abundance in the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and the same is reflected under his influence in the poetic art world of Shaikh Ayaz. This paper will demonstrate that Shaikh Ayaz seems willing to follow and adopt the poetic artistic skills and tradition of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
