The individuality of Mion Shah Inayat's poetry

Abstract

This paper focuses on the distinctive status of Sindhi poetry of Miyon Shah Inayat and its influence on Shah Abdul Latif. Classical Sindhi poetry, extending to Shah Latif, traversed various philosophical and literary phases, with figures like Qadhi Qadan, Shah Karim, Shah Lutfullah Qadri, and notably Shah Inayat Rizvi playing pivotal roles. Throughout its literary evolution, Sindhi poetry birthed new themes and innovations. Similarly, as the classical period progressed from Qazi Qadan, Shah Abdul Karim, and Shah Lutfullah to Shah Inayat Rizvi's era, significant changes had already occurred, not only thematically but also in literary style. This paper highlights that Shah Inayat Rizvi, known not only as a classical poet but also as a reformer of poetic categorization, introduced the beautiful poetic form called Waee, maintaining the traditional Bayt. His unique approach not only distinguished him from his predecessors but also influenced subsequent poets. Likewise, Shah Latif, emerging prominently during the Kalhora period, shows traces of Shah Inayat's influence in his work. Considering the above, this research paper aims to explore this subject in greater depth.
