Abstract

Ghulam Fatima Lal, Nimano Faqir (Alias) Ruqi Bai, Bibi Hawa Bai, Rama Bai, and Maee Begum Faqir were some of the prominent women poetesses who lived in Sindh during the British rule over subcontinent. These women poetesses adhere to the Sufi school of thoughts since mysticism was dominated in Sindh during the British colonial period. During this period, numerous Muheshwari and Aamil women were prominent in the field of poetry.  They primarily wrote about the joys and sorrows of love. Historical records recognize these Maheshwari and Aamil poetesses who were expressive and used their agency to voice their existence. Their poetry encompasses the message of both hardship and happiness.
