Abstract

Shoukat Shoro (1947-2021) was a distinguished author of fiction. In his writings, particularly in his short stories, the existential perspective is evident. In Sindh, a new style of short story writing was established as a result of his unique approach and grasp of story writing. In the short story "Ghairti," the author depicts the harsh truth of society. In the beginning of the story, the protagonist murders the sister-in-law owing to suspicions of extramarital affairs. However, by the end of the story, the protagonist enables his spouse to engage in extramarital affairs with others. In this research paper, we have examined social values and the concept of ‘Honour’. We have demonstrated that this short narrative is a critique of society's declining values.
