Language has many dialects. A dialect is a specific way of speaking of the specific region and central dialect is supposed to be the standard dialect of language. Sindhi language possesses various dialects, i.e. Laari, Siraiki, Utradhi, Thari , Wicholi /Sahiti , Kohistani, Lasim Dhatti, etc.
The English word 'I' is spoken in two different dialectical variations; 'Maan' and 'Aanu' in Sindhi. The word 'Maan' is derived from Persian word 'من' (Mun) which is spoken in the northern and central regions due to Arghun, Turkhan and Moughal’s rule for a long time, whereas, the Arabs ruled Laar and Thar regions for long period , So 'انا' (Anna) is an Arabic word in origin and was used profusely (commonly) '” آءٌ/آئون' (Aanu).
As far as this research proclaims /testifies that 'Maan' is standard word due to two reasons:
(1) Local languages were spoken in parallel, i.e. Urdu, Seraiki and Panjabi contain the word 'میں' (main). In Persian 'من' (Mun), In Baluochi 'ما' (Maa) and in Sindhi 'مان' (Maan). Whereas, the word
'انا' (Anna) belongs to Arabic and Hebrew languages and due to effect of them, the English word 'I' has almost the same pronunciation as 'انا' (Anna) and so the word آءٌ/آئون' (Aanu) has been coined from 'انا' (Anna) in Sindhi language. In the light of such evidences, the word ’مان' (Maan) is local_ cum_ standard one.
(2) The standard dialect is spoken in Naushehro Feroze , Moro , and Khairpur except Naro. Therefore, 'آءٌ/آئون' (Aanu) is a local word of Thar and Laar but 'مان' (Maan) is a standard word used or spoken in the above mentioned central region.
