A study of language and grammar in the poetry of Ejaz Shah Rashidi

Ejaz Shah Rashidi is one of the most important poets of the 20th century of Sindh. Syed Mohiuddin ‘Aijaz Shah Rashidi’ was born in the village of Pir Jhando district Matari in 1929. He followed the path of the great poets of Sindh and developed creative ideas. His collection of poetry is called "Sukhn-i-Aijaz" which is based on classical literary genres such as poems, Kafi, Ghazal, harf, elegy and verse fable. His creative literary work is the reflection of enormous subtleties of complex mystical thoughts.
Ejaz Shah's poetry is replete with linguistic qualities that demonstrate his in-depth understanding of the correct use of pronouns, interjections, prepositions, phrases, and sayings & proverbs in accordance with the rules of Sindhi language grammar and composition. His usage of correct Sindhi grammatical elements and parts of speech exhibits his grasp of Sindhi. In addition, the context, grammar, and idiom of his lyrics are revealed through linguistic analysis of his poems. Among his poetry, the majority of sindhi dialects reflect the central region, i.e. Sahiti Pargana, with certain Lari dialects being present. The uniqueness and purity of his linguistic expression and depiction are evident in his poems which shows his love with the Sindhi language. This article examines the linguistic and grammatical features of his verses.
