Abstract

The final consonant of every word is activated by a short vowel, upon which plural-singular, feminine-masculine, active-passive, postposition, etc. depend in Sindhi language. In some cases, the vowel is used in second last consonants, according to masculine and feminine, such asسندُم /سندَم) / سندُس /  لکَندُم / لکندَم/ لکندُس / لکندَس سندَس), etc. It is a distinctive style of Sindhi among the world's languages.

Generally, the Sindhi grammar is developed on this root linguistic structure, hence it must be maintained in the standard language. The use of diacritical mark/ last short vowel, with nouns, especially in genitive or possessive case, is not used same as in print or electronic media.

With this comes the feminine-masculine case of the word, as: A news came out: ’ڇوڪري جي پيءُ کي ماريو ويو.‘  father of boy/girl was killed. ; Due to the low usage of last diacritical mark (ءَ) , it is not clear from this sentence whether the word is ‘boy’ (masculine or  ‘girl’ (feminine)? However, according to the news, the girl was mentioned. It should have been written correctly that ’ڇوڪريءَ جي  پيءُ کي ماريو ويو.‘ father of a girl was killed). If the word  ’ڇوڪريءَ‘ (female) is to be used here, considering the nuances of the Sindhi language, we must use ’ڇوڪريءَ‘, due to the addition of short vowel, because it is inccorect way of using feminine form of the word. It is concluded from the study that with the combination of two nouns (مضاف / added and مضاف اليه / genitive), if the first word genitive and ends with ’اِي‘ and ’اُو‘, then it becomes mandatory to place’ءَ‘ . In the absence of this fundamental linguistic framework, misunderstanding would persist, leading to improper use of the Sindhi language.
