Abstract

The epistolary genre serves as a fundamental mode of human expression and thought transmission. Historically, this literary form reflected emotions, social relationships and evolving cultural circumstances. Different categories, including personal, literary, formal and informal letters evolved to meet specific societal demands. In particular literary letters provided a unique medium for expressing inner sentiments and establishing new literary standards. In Sindhi literature, writers and poets adopted letters to convey intellectual, ideological and creative tendencies. Published collections and magazine entries now serve as a documentary heritage of Sindhi cultural history. While traditional handwritten letters have declined due to technological evolution, the core spirit of the genre persists. Modern media such as email, social media and blogs represent new manifestations of this traditions. Research highlighted that the genre has not disappeared but has transformed its scope and medium. The artistic and social significance of the epistolary form endures in the digital age. Therefore, letter writing should be viewed as an evolving journey rather than a relic of the past.
