Abstract

Imdad Hussaini is a poet by nature. He descends from the same 'JARAR Pota' family as the famous poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. Since both his maternal and paternal ancestors are renowned for their literary accomplishments, he possesses a natural flair for poetry. His maternal grandfather was the notable Sindhi writer named Qazi Assadullah Shah Fida, and the prominent Sindhi Kafee writing (ڪافي گو) poet Hafiz Shah was the elder brother of his maternal grandfather.

Imdad Hussaini has consistently supported the modern and artistic experiments in poetry. He has composed poetry in about twenty different genres. However, he specializes in writing songs (گيت), poems (نظم) and Ghazals (غزل). A Particular poetic genere is ‘TEROO’ (ٽيڙو) which he got inspiration from Japanese ‘HAIKU’ (ھائيڪو). He also transformed and experimented many other generes of Sindhi poetry. There are various aspects and feauters of Imdad’s poetry which has been critically analyzed like universality: the universality in his poetry shines like full moon and have soothing and cooling effect that of breeze. The thought of human eternity and honour is visible in his poetry. We see the ‘sincerity’, ‘astheticism’ and sublimity of Sindhi Society and emotional expression in his poetry. He offers solutions of problems and the hopes for the development of Sindh in his poetry. His romanticism is unique and matchless. His romantic poetry for radio is replete with love songs and love Anthums which strengthen the beliefs of the beloved and the lover. The natural images in the poetry of Imdad resemble the actual beauty of nature, the colour. The melody drips like honey from his poetry of nature. His discription of nature proclaims his sense of astheticism and observation in a fascinating way. That is why the dynamics of his poetry possesses the values which are strong, charming, grand and sublime.

Imdad’s poetry is full of emotions, beauty, and wonderful similies and metaphors. In addition, he has expertly infused his poetry with lovely popular Sindhi proverbs and sayings. Imdad has his own clifferend diction, which is evident in the structure and elegance of his verse.
