Abstract

Meon Shah Inaat Rizvi was a sindhi sufi mystic and poet. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest poets of the sindhi language. His poems were compiled by Dr. Nabi bux khan Baloch under the title “Miyen Shah Inaat jo kalaam (ميين شاهه عنات جو ڪلام)”. It was first published in 1963. Meon Shah Inaat Rizvi was a classical poet since he used classical Sindhi idioms and classical forms of Sindhi bait and waae or kafi in his poetry.

Meon Shah Inaat Rizvi was first classical poet who started the tradition of composing Surs, and ushered in a new era of Sindhi classical poetry. Folk tales attained a special prominence in Sindhi classical poetry during his period. Because Meon Shah Inaat Rizvi assembled the chapters (Surs), he began to write diverse stories within them. Meon Shah Inaat Rizvi is the creator of both the Sur and the vocal genre.

This paper investigates the relationship between Meon Shah Inaat Rizvi's Surs and Shastri Sangeet by analysing all of his Surs.
