Abstract

This research paper demonstrates that under the influence of the progressive movement, excellent poetry was produced in the Sindhi language. Sindhi poets shifted their focus to the common man, abandoning topics such as flowers and nightingales (aestheticism), and instead wrote about human feelings and desires, representing the issues of the public. They played a significant role in bringing people out of darkness and showing them brighter paths in life. Ustad Bukhari (d.1993) is one such liberal, life-oriented, and progressive poet. This paper highlights that Ustad Bukhari meticulously connected his progressive ideological thoughts with the people, and his creative work is evident in how he represented the exploited and oppressed class through poetry.
